My Journey into the light

I consider myself to be a forever student; both in yoga and in life. I am always adding new aspects of healing into my repertoire, which I love to adapt to fit into my yoga practice and teaching.

I started my own healing journey when I became a student of mental health. I finished my undergrad degree at DePaul University in Psychology and Communications, took a few years off to “find myself,” and then entered the Master’s of Social Work Program at the University of Denver. In my quest to help others find healing, I realized that I was also healing myself. As a sufferer of several different types of Anxiety, Depression, Disordered Eating & Chronic Trauma, let me tell you there was a lot to work with.

Over many years, I had done all the things you are suppose to do to heal, and still I was frequently still experiencing “triggers” and “set backs.” At one point I wasn’t even sure I wanted to continue to keep on living. The daily fight to appear normal was taking its toll and I just wanted the suffering to end. At this very low point I knew I had to do something extreme to turn things around.

So I quit being a School Social Worker and started looking for myself, my purpose & my passion out in the world. I jumped on a plane to complete my 200 hour teacher training with Soma Yoga Institute in Costa Rica, and the rest is history. I had never intended on teaching yoga, but my experience & study of yoga, meditation, and living mindfully became so profoundly transformational that I felt an intrinsic need to share it with others. Within a few months I was already signed up for the Children’s Yoga Teacher Training with Divine Light Yoga, and am currently on my 800 hour Yoga Therapy Training journey. I whole heartedly believe to practice the 8 Limbs of Yoga is life changing and an essential piece to holistically healing the Whole Person (mind, body, & spirit) well beyond the 4 corners of our mats.

I am truly excited to share and hold space for you in your personal journey to finding your light!
